Il vento dell’amore psichedelico soffiava davvero magicamente nel biennio d’oro 1966-1967 e chiunque era dotato una punta di fantasia, riusciva ad espanderla a dismisura, fregandosene di tutto ciò che era convenzionale, precostituito, scontato… in una parola vecchio. Immaginatevi l’effetto mistico evocativo che ha avuto su menti geniali come quelle del Signor Jagger e del Signor Richards… ok anche per me è un’impresa al limite dell’impossibile il solo pensare di potermi immedesimare in uno dei due personaggi sopra citati. Ma per fortuna la nostra immaginazione può essere stimolata dalle tracce lisergiche di questo strabiliante capolavoro psichedelico partorito dai Rolling Stones.
Click… play, se purtroppo come me avete solo il cd… “Sing This All Together” è un vaudeville nella migliore tradizione britannica, sfigurato dal sarcasmo tagliente di cui erano capaci e maestri i due… e dopo la scappatella goliardica, gli Stones ci introducono magicamente nella loro “Citadel”, che suona come un posto abitato da elfi, folletti e gnomi, dove tutto è rarefatto e la luce del giorno sembra non voler mai andare via… e subito ci spiegano che questo meraviglioso paesino si trova “In Another Land”. Il primo capolavoro di questo disco è “2000 Man”, dove sonorità caleidoscopiche multi-colori vengono dipinte, abbracciando il folk psichedelico di Donovan, intermezzi freak-beat ed un pop sbilenco e deviato, come poteva essere quello dei migliori Kinks. “Sing This All Together (See What Happen)” è il loro “manifesto d’avanguardi lisergica” dove non si curano minimante delle dimensioni reali di spazio e tempo e si lasciano andare ad esperimenti sonori, che richiamano ora la free-form dei Faust (avvenuta solo un lustro più tardi), ora una forma ancora involuta della dance anni 70, ora la ricerca delle nostre origini ancestrali e cerebrali… tutto condensato in otto catartici minuti e mezzo. Con “She’s A Rainbow” i Rolling Stones confezionano uno dei capolavori assoluti del psych-flower-pop, una canzone sul futuro riscatto della condizione femminile, che diventa poetico innalzamento ad essere radioso. “The Lantern” è un dimesso folk-blues-psichedelico che a mio modesto parere risente pesantemente dell’entrata sulla scena dei Pink Floyd di Syd Barrett, a cui sembrano voler donare il lasciapassare. “Gomper” è l’inquieto sguardo inglese sulla finestra aperta dalle filosofie orientali, che dilatavano il loro misticismo verso occidente. Ma il percorso non può assolutamente terminare senza un viaggio interstellare a “2000 Light Years From Home”, dove le Pietre mescolano i trip mentali indotti dall’acido ad un esperienza al di fuori della nostra galassia, con un tappeto sonoro in forma di seminale space-rock (che credo gli Hawkwind abbiano mandato a memoria), prima che Jagger travestito da imbonitore da fiera di paese ci dispensi i suoi imprescindibili consigli, filtrando la sua voce attraverso un megafono… così da attirare più gente nell’ultima “On With The Show”..
Spesso questo (capo)lavoro è stato pesantemente bistrattato dai fans duri e puri degli Stones, che li volevano sempre bluesy, torbidi e cattivi… ottusi (i fans). Solo la foto della copertina vale il prezzo del biglietto.

Un'opera di maggiore qualità delle pietre rotolanti.
'She’s a Rainbow' sarebbe un autentico capolavoro, ma giudicata la bellezza globale del brano preferisco chiudere un occhio al peccato veniale del buon Charlie.
