Non so se conoscete i Deftones a fondo, ma fareste bene ad ascoltarvi almeno una volta "Saturday Night Wrist"; un disco ancora diverso rispetto al suo predecessore, ma sempre molto ispirato.

Seppur non molto avvezzo alla seconda parte della carriera dei Deftones (quella dal rivoluzionario "Withe Pony" in poi) ho ascoltato quest'ultimo "Saturday Night Wrist" molto piacevolmente perché ormai sono consapevole che il sound di dischi come "Adrenaline" e "Around The Fur", quasi certamente non lo ripescheranno più, quindi con l'anim…

Potrei paragonare l'ultima fatica dei Deftones ad una pillola che induce a vivere emozioni che sembrano totalmente veritiere o assolutamente fasulle o che magari produca un certo "Deja Vu", tutto secondo come si vive il momento appena prima di ingerirla; in "Hole in the Earth", "Rapture" e "Beware" ad esempio…

Sebbene in complesso non sia un brutto album, non supera la soglia del "buono bello" e di conseguenza, soprattutto rispetto alle aspettative che si erano create, in fondo è una delusione. Sarà che io dai deftones mi aspetto sempre il meglio.

Cherry Waves

Forse il pezzo dei Deftones migliore della loro intera discografia, se cercate questo tipo di atmosfere. Da Saturday Night Wrist, assieme a Kimdracula e Xerces credo sia il brano maggiormente riuscito. Tratta di fiducia fra due persone, enfatizzando nel ritornello la richiesta "Would You?".
